Project Octavian's Mind Tutorial

Updated on 2/1/2023 By Sam Pausig

This game uses a map in the style of a board game to navigate, dialogue events, and combat events. Please play the game after you have read the tutorial pages here.

Prologue of the Story: You are defecting from an authoritarian regime and have just killed a senior member of the state as a symbol of defiance. Your objective is to escape the facility without getting killed. (These events will be shown through a scripted cutscene that hasn't been made yet)

How to Navigate:

To navigate simply use the roll button to roll 3v12 dice to move forward (you can not go backwards)

When you approach a crossroad you can select which direction you will go (You cannot change your direction after you have made your choice

What to do when you enter a room:

The rooms are in a yellow color and when you approach one your perspective will shift to a top down view. The red cubes are clickable events that will have dialogue events. When you are finished you can use the “Exit Room” button to exit the room and continue on. Some rooms that diverge from the “main” path will teleport you back to the “main” path.

How to use Dialogue Events:

When you activate a dialogue event you will be given choices that you can click on. Use the dialogue arrow to continue if there are no choices.

How to fight enemies:

At some point an enemy will appear in front of you from which you have to use your weapon to destroy its health. You have a certain amount of “energy” that refills for a couple seconds. You can use energy to attack with your weapon, dodge attacks, or defend yourself using armor or shields. There are no turns so you will have to react quickly.
